Today again, there nice and early and had got cracking with creating my news programme. We did fit in a muck rehearsal on seeing how long it takes to get the cameras from inside to outside and vice versa. Lauren had nicely gave me some footage which they were unable to use for their news show. After 9 o clock, which was the meeting for broadcast day, i grabbed a copy of the script and running order and then created my script for the news. I did an international news, and a local/college news with the weather. When it was coming up to the news, Mike said he will give me a buzz for me to come and direct it. Meanwhile the show was going on, i had many things to do for my news. Whilst a TV programme was playing, i robbed one of the camera operators to quickly film the weather for me. this took the matter of a few takes and a couple of minutes. i then was in an edit suite with Amy creating the opening titles and the editing the weather for my news show. I then burnt this to a DVD and gave it to sound and explained what i wanted playing and what point and also gave them a script that i created earlier. The first news show only had the opening titles and the 2nd news show had all the footage which sound wasn't happy about as they wasn't really prepared for it (But that's television!)
Today i was also directing the LIVE show of Muck. How exciting. We did have many rehearsals for camera shots but obviously not rehearsing the food changing so it was a little pressure. Georgie, a couple of minutes before the show had forgot about the opening titles and never had time to go get them out of her bag so we had to leave it. The show could not have gone a bit better. What i learnt with camera shot on a live show, you have to predict where the reactions are going to be and make sure that all cameras have a nice shot whilst the other cameras are moving. This is quite difficult because all three cameras at one point had a 90 degrees turn at the same time so i told camera 2 to just move steady so i could focus on that camera. The contestants with one game also had a lot of movement so it was hard who to actually focus on in all shots. the main thing what i had to focus on reactions and i felt like i didn't do a bad job for this and the programme turned out to be a success.
Overall today was a better day as we knew what to expect. Everybody was a lot calmer and presumed to have learnt from yesterdays mistakes.

Broadcast Day 1
Arrived early in the morning and had received the final script. I had already annotated the other version of the script so i spent most of my morning changing all the annotations. After hearing yesterday that i had to create a 2 news show for day two. This slightly put more pressure on. But i wasn't going to worry about that until tomorrow. i felt like i dealt with the morning quite badly and i learnt that i get too stressed to easily. But ill be honest, i didn't really feel that prepared as i didn't have a huge picture on what to expect. Once we started things began to flow and i started to understand about how Transmission take from the studio and how they give back. I learnt that when we are going out to studio, transmission takes us with a bumper and when we are coming back from transmission, the studio takes them with a bumper. Unfortunately on my day when i was directing there wasn't any live shows which i would have liked for the challenge but i also appreciate not having a live show as dealing with the manic. A few things went wrong and this is lead to lack of presenters rehearsing. In between shows we began to rehearse the next scene/ link with the presenters but as the day went on, it wore off. This was a bad mistake and looking back ,you can realise this. If i could go back, i would have spent the times where the shows were playing to make sure that they rehearse their next lines and so i can then learn from them with the camera shots. At the end of the day, i had to go on set for the Flash mob interview. I had a 5 second look at the interview questions and just went along with it. Also once the news was on, i tried to make it comical by just doing silly things to Matt and acting like a complete idiot, but everybody in the studio was laughing so i felt like i pulled it off. and i killed time too because that was another thing i noticed the fact that we had to fill 2 hours of studio time. This is probably lead to not having a rehearsal to find out how long we have to fill and in rehearsal this could have been corrected.
So overall today it went well, i feel like i didn't do a bad job. i believe that i was firm but fair. And i know i try to do everything myself rather than using the people i have such as P.A and floor manager. I now understand the importance of the bumpers and how the P.A and Transmission need to use communications to know the timings. We also realised that communications was an issue on the day. When talking over communications, people tend to shout, talk over each other and trying to have a conversation with more than one person also tends to happen. i know that i do shout, but this is to get my message across as my role is probably one of the most important. Its also hard to talk to everybody and answer every bodies question at the same time. Overall the team worked well together and I'm looking forward to the next day.

Diary entry 7 - week 8 - 14th June
14th June
Today we told everybody to get in early to give us a full rehearsal of muck. Relying on the weather, we had to measure the space outside and measure it up in the studio because it was raining. So Esme and ollie measure it up whilst i got all the equipment out of the way and set the three cameras up to where i want them to be and neatly put the cables in the right position. Sam decides to mess with the floor lights which i thought was a bad idea as it would take up alot of room and the fact that were not even going to use the lights anyway! This rehearsal was a 50 / 50 progression. i do have an clear idea of what i want, but the problem is turning the clear idea into the practical work. The problems we had was having enough room because we are pretty sure that Esme measured it correctly but it seems like we have no room what so ever. Another problem we were getting is the cables getting in the way of each camera. but this could be the reaosn of people not being there for rehearsal. Even the smallest jobs are important. After this rehearsal not feeling as confident as i would like to be.
15th june
Today was all about preparing for broadcast day. Started off in the morning having a play with the set with nico and rob. Phil had then established that we had nothing to do with the actual programme BOING so we all had a discussion and i had came up with the idea of just printing off different sized circles, different colours on one board and on another just have the logo printed out many times in a neat order. This looks quite good. I took the job of going upstairs and printing these all off along with Amy. at abotu 12:30 phil called us in for a production meeting. telling us that we need to create a live promo! and it will be broadcasted at half 3! Laura's directing! ahhhhhhh! He also mentioned that me and mike the other director had to create a live news programme which will go live at 12 on the day were not directing. Me and mike took 5 minutes to speak about the theme we want to go for. But back to getting on with thing actually for broadcast day. i was in the presenters rehearsals to see what to expect, become familar with the script and camera shots i would like to use. at about half 2 i wanted a reahearsal with the whole production team to have a few rehearsals before the promo goes out live. i sat with chelsey helping her with the timings of the vts/ cutaways as she is P.A. i felt like i couldnt really do much experimenting with the cameras as not alot was happening. i gave the presenter a few things to do such as look at different cameras for different sentences just so i could get a variety. i also tried giving her some movement so it catches the audiences eye more. this just gave me a taster of what the actual broadcast day is going to be like.

Diary Entry 6 - Week 7 - 7th June
Mon 7th
Today was all about editing the flash mob, now that all the tapes have been captured its now time to start editing. Me and Georgie took the main role at editing with a little input from Esme. It wasn't that difficult to do and i did enjoy doing is as editing is one of my strengths. Whilst i was doing this, Georgie Esme and Adele went to the location where our game show muck is going to be and laid out the way we are going to have it and took pictures. They said that Phil said that we shouldn't do a rehearsal as it is a live show.
Tues 8th
Today we focused on radio. i got given the role as presenter as well as Sam. As a group i say we do work well as a team but some team members tend to take control even though they are not producer. This annoyed me slightly as i felt like everybody has their say, but not to the extent where they are bossing people about and to add to that they are not even the producer. We didn't really make a script, we just had a list of whats coming up on the show and been able to create chat with the other presenter. I found out that this is quite hard when he pressure is on and that's quite shocking for me. We didn't really have the right signal of when we were starting so we asked Phil and then just picked it up. We finished 20 seconds over which wasn't really that bad. We messed up the songs a little because we were doing a top 5 chart music and then had requested songs in the middle of it. What we should have done was to complete the top 5 and then give the requested songs. i thought our sound beds were quite comical. i made my boyfriend watch it online and he wrote in too! :D. Our feature had sound problems so for future reference, we should create the feature first thing, then play it back and if we have any errors then at least we should have time to correct or create a new one. what Phil never told us at the beginning of the show is that it was actually the real thing! i would say i could have done better with my performance as i feel like i lacked confidence in the radio show. Next time I'd like to do a more technical job or be a presenter on my own because i felt that Sam out shone me, and plus he was on the desk too which i thought was a bit greedy.
weds 9th
Today we filmed D'Arcy Extra Time in the studio. I was presenter for him. i felt like they two takes went OK. when i feel like something is wrong i speak up and i kept interrupting in the show. With it not being my show, i can't really tell anybody what to do. with me interrupting, i feel like Ive gave Darcy's group more of a difficult edit therefore more work for them.
In the afternoon, Chelsey and Ellas were filming their show with the boys dressing up as famous popstar/bands. I was just there to help out basically being a role of a runner.
As well in the afternoon our group recorded our opening titles for our game show muck. We wanted to film this outside because of the pie going everywhere but as we started preparing the pie it started to rain. So we had to do it inside but place a cover on the floor so it doesnt get in the carpet. The only trouble we had on the location where we were filming was that college students kept trying to walk past and its something that we couldnt help even though we did put up signs. it only took one take obviously we only had one pie. As soon we did this, we created our opening titles. i captured it and selected the footage and placed them on the timeline. Esme and Georgie then sorted out the sound for it and the graphic on the end.
thurs 10th
The Muck opening titles was now burnt onto DVD.
Friday 11th
Sumo's day to film his programme. I was in early so i helped out with his set. This consumed of taping the white set boards with IDIOT yellow and black tape. He then gave me the role to go on autocue. The programme its self ran quite smoothly with only a couple of takes. We then after he had a production team for him, my group (Georgie, Amy, Esme, Adele) and then a few others, Sam Ollie and James all went out the studio and just had a run through of Muck without cameras. so camera operators were just placed where we think the cameras would go. This is just a practise to see how much room we have outside.
Later on in the day we realised we had nothing to do. So we decided to create bumper. we just went really random with the idea and just took a camera out and went with our first instinct. All we were doing was bouncing in front of the camera shouting BOING. This is a good bumper as its very versatile as we did many different experiments.
Diary Entry 5 - week 6 - 24th May
24th may
In Phil's lesson, all of 1a were present so Jess wanted to film her show. There wasn't a job available for me but i was present at the time and gave courage to the artist once she had finished her performance.
Because both 1a and 1p tutorials are near enough the same time so this was a perfect opportunity to fit in a rehearsal for the flash mob as the tutors would be here to supervise the class and will make sure it gets done. I was a little late because of me speaking to sharon but i got there as soon as i could to get rehearsing. I felt like i did a good job as a teacher and i felt like this rehearsal was actually productive. Its extreemely hard to be in control of about 40 students who really doesnt want to be there and is consious of dancing etc but i am very greatful for people giving a go. Adele did film the rehearsal on her phone and Georgie had jotted down who was the best out of the group of dancing so we can organise them to come on first in the flashmob.
25th
Tomorrow is our flash mob. We had a rehearsal one last time before the real thing. Everybody seems familiar with the dance and we have now put them into an order of who's coming on first. We also told them the way they will be getting on, how they will leave the stage and also what to wear. We said to just stick to light coloured clothes just because of getting them on camera. ****Georgie's*******
26th
today is Reverb so that means our flash mob! (ahhh) i got there down early in the morning to actually help out at reverb. Same again, just checking if everybody was OK, if they needed drinks, etc. we popped back down to college to collect 5 cameras for the flash mob. I spoke to graham to see if its okay if we could get some lighting for the flash mob. he then passed me into Paula and i had a word with her and she said that she will have a play. By about 2:20 all of the NDS had arrived at the civic hall. We hid all of them by the changing rooms because it was to surprise some of the HNDs because they never knew it was going to happen. I then sneaked my way into the hall and interrupted in a rehearsal performance by clapping my hands in front of the performers and this is also the sinc point for when editing. When performing i gave it my all! By wearing a costume like i did, i couldn't possibly make more of a fool of myself so i may as well give it my full shilling! it went Far better than i expected! and luckily we had some fantastic shots of the reactions and also us dancing on the crane camera which hopefully we will be able to loose. Director wasn't too impressed and we have a clip of him walking out! The only critique i could give is for the dancer to have moved over because they were all cramped in one side. hopefully start editing on friday.
27th
Today we captured the flashmob. It did take quite a while as we had many cameras to capture off. We also had to get some tapes of the HNDs to capture their footage too.
28th
today i focused on my report as its the deadline. I must admit, theory isnt my strongest point and i know i havnt done as well in my report. just hoping i have the last week of the yesr to boost it up.
Diary Entry 4 - week 5 - 18th May
tues 18th
today just caught up with what has been happening within my group. They had got intouch with the HNDs and went down to take photos of the venue so that we could plan out where we can dance and how much room we would have.
Weds 19th
Today was a very productive day. i was booked out as being presenter for total wash out (sams group) from 9 - 11. I never got given a script and was told to just make it up on the spot. To prepare before hand i also helped them bring all the equpiment out such as buckets and sponge and layout the obstical course the way the producer wants it. I was booked 11-1 being a presenter for D'arcy's group with Extra Time. This was just a run through with all the guests in and just a health and safety check. I ran over time with sams group untill half 11, but luckily the guests didnt turn up till half 11 with D'arcys show so it worked out ok. The run through went ok, but the group didnt seem very organised because of the fact that they never had VTs ready and not a hole production team was there to help out.
In the afternoon Esme and Georgie went through the flashmob song with me to make sure i know what order the songs are coming in and we also edited the song to be shorter.
Thurs 20th
Attempted with another rehearsal today. Some of one 1a turned up and co-operated really well. and near the end of the rehearsal we did get some of 1P. We realised that its not easy to get all of ND1 to come along so we was thinking about teachin 1a in a lesson we have, and discussin with sharon when we can teach 1P.
Fri 21st
In Simons lesson he was telling us what we need to be doing on the side of theory. I had totally forgot about my report so in this lesson, i got crackalacking with my CV/dream job section of the report and later on when i got home, i attempted with all sections of the report to and organised it into a presentable way, still not completed. and yes i do realise i have a week for it to be handed in.

Diary Entry 3 - week 3 - 3rd May
We rehearsed our pitch ready for tomorrow. Discuessed what we are all going to wear. Sticking to colours black white and grey.
4th May - Pitch day. Because we was short on time, our pitch had to be cut down and the lecturers just asked the questions that they needed. For both programmes we pitched we got an amber for both. This means that our ideas may be broadcasted if a little more thought was into the programmes. They really liked the idea of the flash mob just wasnt sure on the location. Phil then came up with the idea of doing it at a REVERB which is the HND's big music production in a couple of weeks. Phil said to go speak to some of the HNDs.
5th May - Today is the day where we are given specfic job roles for broadcast day. Before hand we all discussed as one big groups what each groups programmes were just to let the rest of them team an idea of what programmes we're having. I got given the job role asdirector for 1A (yay!) and i was really impressed with the role i was given. Straight after this meeting, the production team had a small meeting and in that meeting we discussed what were doing for the set. We said we was going to follow the codes and conventions for the younger target audience and try and stick to the simular programme T4.
6th May - Had a flash mob rehearsal, tried to get everybody into the studio, but it wasnt really that successful. Nobody was really listening. Wasnt very Productive.

Diary Entry 2 - week 2 - 26th April
In this Week we have started our treatment.
In the lesson we phill we got taught about how the image gets from path to air and we then had an exam on it. i did quite well in the exam.
We filmed esme and ollie doing our flahsmob dance and filmed it so we could place it in our pitch.
In sharons lesson we began our pitch.
Me and Amy went to the location of where we are going to present our game show muck. I also created some logo ideas.
on the thursday, we all went over shottery and filmed some of our collegues playing some of the games we would like to play for our show, to see if they work or have any problems.
I filmed fluffy bunnies and Go bananas and i participated in the dunkin dougnuts. We found out that its too dangerous to lie down whilst playing the game so we decided to kneel down rather than lie down as there is less chance of people choking.
We also tried out the pir in the face. James bonder said it was ok but its just the fact that he kept his eyes open that it stung his eyes.
In Simons lesson we learnt about the structure of channel 4 and the way their fundings work.
Amy had written the script for muck on our spare thursday. Whilst she was doing this, i was on the computer trying to find a birds eye view of the location of where we wanted to do our flash mob.
In tims lesson we are learning about the press privacy.
Also on friday, we had finished out pitch and wrote notes on each powerpoint on what we were going to say. Georgie then completed the powerpoint slide over the weekend.

Diary Entry 1 - week 1 - 20th April
In this weeks lessons, together as a group we have been discussing our ideas for what programmes we are going to produce for broadcast day. In my group, i have Adele, Amy, Esme, Georgie and myself as a team. 1A and 1P watched previous years of broadcasts day to give us an idea of what is excepted in terms of logos and types of shows.
One of the ideas i came up with was to do a fitness Video. It has already been done before in previous years which i have watched, but i would have liked to have done mine better. By doing this i would choose a better venue with good mise en scene such as a glazed wooden floor, a mirror and actually make it look like a dance studio. Our college has these facilities which we would have to ask permission to use. so for that reason it would have to be pre recorded.
Georgie, another team member of my group had come up with the idea of a singing flash mob. This is when a group of people start singing randomly in a middle of a place that is unexpected. she got the idea from the television advert T- mobile.
We had discussed this with our teacher and had then come up with the idea of combining both ideas together.

We planned to do this flash mob down into town by the river, but obviusly we are going to have to ask for permission for this to happen and there are big health and safety issues that need to be looked into.
After looking at the previous years broadcast days, our group really liked the food game show.
Phil wanted everybody to try to achieve 2 shows, one pre recorded and one live. Obviously our food game show would have to be the live one because the flash mob would be on location.
